lots of heat! ud be an idiot not to get a tranny temp gauge along with the verter.. besides that a cooler is nessary , hell i eneded up with 2 coolers(2x1900gvw =constant 170deg temps) to keep my temps where i wanted them...besides that yes when launching the higher str. will increase the torque your transmission sees off the line thus adding more stress throught the drive train.. but really whats your other option not doing it or any thing else i mean all perfromance gains are gonna stress the drive train more its absolutely nessary if you think about it more power=more stress |

As long as you get a good cooler you'll be fine. To give you an idea...I have had my 4200 stall in the car for the last 50,000 out of 100,000 miles on my trans. Last time out to the strip it shifted perfect. Just keep it cool and it will run for a long time. |
The stress will be on the rearend depending on how high the STR (Torque Multiplier) is. Besides the cooler, and shift kit, if your vehicle is not lowered you may want to look into a B&M 3 Qt deeper aluminum trans pan. SteveC :) |
You have the STR (2.5/stock 1.8 = about 40% more torque applied to the input shaft) -and- the higher stall speed means the engine is also making more torque at the point of peak torque multiplication. Double whammy. Check out some of Yank's dyno curves if you can find them on their site; some of the more extreme STR ones make way more torque down low than up top. |
Thakns for the replys, my driveline is solid, I was just concerend about the trans components lasting until I get one built, I have a 24k cooler and a temp guage, so adding a shift kit and a Vette Servo should help also. |
