Default fuddle racing converter + drag radial = 1.4 60'!!!

1.473 60' on drag radials!

Just wanted to share my real world track experience with my fuddle convertor. just a bit of background on my setup.

1999 Trans Am
3500 lbs raceweight
230/230 degree comp cam
stock heads
LT headers, cutout, asp pulley, ls6 intake
m/t 275/60/15 drag radials
4.10 moser
Fuddle HP Street 3800 converter 2.2 str
340 rwhp with previous convertor on the dynojet (weak!)
stock shocks on eibach springs
nx 125 shot

i was running my trusty Yank ST4000 but wanted a change and talked to John @ Fuddle racing converters. first of all incredible customer support. something you dont find today very often at all.

second, i am extremely happy with how tight the converter feels compared to my previous setup on the street. ofcourse it is designed to be a tighter converter.

next, my best 60' with the yank was a one time only 1.50 60' and usually in the 1.53-1.55 60' on a good preped night at our track. today two out of my three passes was in the 1.4 60' range. the other was b/c my nitrous line wasnt purged and didnt hit untill farther down the track. that was a 1.58 60' - not too bad for n/a on a tight nitrous conveter!

the DA = +2170 feet when i was making my runs. temp was 93 degrees (god i love florida ) and track temps easily in the 125+ degree range. i have a bad sunburn to prove it lol.

this converter is holding the nitrous so well and not pushing through the convertor. i was nervous before talking to fuddle. after our 45 minute conversation i knew this guy understood stall converters. i felt comfortable and to tell you the truth, that doesnt happen very often.

while i didnt set a new personal best, it was due to 1) pcm needs tuning b/c i was on the limitor at the 2-3 shift point and didnt feel like trashing the car on spray and 2) the horrid heat we still have down here. i cant wait till our racing season in january and february! this converter is asking for more and i think a 1.45 60' will be no problem on the radial and this convertor in our cool air. remember this was my shakedown passes on this converter. the driver is gonna have to learn where she likes to be launched at! all i did was stall her to about 1800 rpms to load the suspension and let the convertor flash and do its thing. the car "only" went 10.99 @ 121.x but the 60' shows the convertor is doing its job! the convertor is responsible for the 60' time. my car has never been fast like the light internet cars on the boards and i think represents a real world budget setup.

for those that are skeptical b/c this is a "new" converter company, dont worry. the parts are top notch and John @ Fuddle will take care of you.

1.4s is excellent; especially at 3500lbs. You're getting some good grip from those M/T's.
