Re: 3.73's or Vig 3200 ? what first ?? Just like they said, do the converter first. You'll shave off .6+ in the 1/4 w/ the Vig 3200, and the gears, won't get you close to 1/2 of that. Take it from someone that knows. I LOVE my 3.73's, but they don't show too much of a gain w/ stock-internals. I knew that I was only looking at .1-.15 w/ the addition of the 3.73's, so it's no big deal. Install the Vig 3200 first, and see how you like it. As stated above, you may decide that you don't want to go w/ 3.73's later on. FWIW, my gas mileage on the highway dropped 2.5-3 MPG w/ the addition of the 3.73's over the 3.23's. I'll consistently average 22.5 MPG now at 70 MPH. |
Re: 3.73's or Vig 3200 ? what first ?? Thanks for your opinions and quick replys. I will be doing both, just don't have the $$$ to do both at once. Must launch hard an the streets. Tough to do with my 2.73 gears. My old car, LT1 A4 w/ 3.73 gears and t/c was great, but I did both at the same time. Agian thank U. |
Re: 3.73's or Vig 3200 ? what first ?? I did both at separate times.Converter (even my wimpy 2600) made MUCH more difference than the gears Blue Z is correct.Once that Vig3200 is in,you may not want to change the gears. |
Re: 3.73's or Vig 3200 ? what first ?? Without the gears the TC will seem pretty loose. I don't have my 4.10's in yet with my "new" Z and the PI3600 requires me to go 3000 rpm's off the line just to get it rolling. I would still do the TC first - no question - but just some food for thought. Eric |
Re: 3.73's or Vig 3200 ? what first ?? BIGSAM99Z, I have the same set up you are thinking about doing and I did them both at the same time. I suggest as the others have to do the converter first, then If you want do the gears. If you go with the 3:73's be prepared to buy some new tires real soon. I did today, Nitto 275/40/17DR's. BTW, mine goes in Tuesday for heads/cam and Holley intake manifold. Woo Hoo |
