FLT Level 4 + Yank SS3600 first impressions...
Just drove my car today with the following new toys:
FLT Level 4 4L60E Transmission
FLT performance pump
FLT sleeved input drum
8 B/W high-energy clutches in 3-4 pack
FLT beast shell w/bearing
B/W 29 element sprag
4L65 low roller clutch
Transgo HD-2 shift kit
Corvette Servo
Wide 2-4 band
Bushing kit
All solenoids
Internal wire harness
Spacer plate
B/W clutches
Seal & gasket kit
Filter
Updated accumulator pistons
Set end play to performance specs
Installed Options:
Vacuum Mod Kit
Sonnax Super Hold Servo
Yank SS3600 2.5 Converter
B&M 24k GVW Tranny Cooler
Prothane Transmission Mount
All I have to say is - holy crap. It feels like a whole new car. The annoying part throttle 2nd gear shift RPM drop off and subsequent torque cut is completely gone (removed Torque Management). The transmission shifts like lightning, and the whole car is extremely responsive now...the stock trans/converter wasn't. All dead spots in the RPM range are gone. It takes about 1200rpm to get the car moving, and it sees around 2000-2500 around town using light throttle and closer to 3000 with a little more to keep up with some traffic. Lock-up hits a lot harder than before but I can get used to it. Even my girlfriend (who also drives it) loves what i've done to the car and it's just plain more fun to drive now. I should add that this is a 3.23 ratio car.
I do have an annoying vibration and a high pitched metallic chatter now that I need to address but I suspect it to be the polyurethane mount. The noise is pretty rare and only comes in at certain times though. The vibrations aren't nearly as bad as half the people on this board make it out to be. Around town it's hardly noticeable but it definetely makes itself known around 60+ on highways. I went with the mount because I didn't want to be breaking the stock rubber one.
I kept the stock flexplate after Dave @ Yank talked me out of the TCI unit. I'll just cross my fingers and hope it will hold up. Besides it was $200 that I can put somewhere else and it really isn't necessary on an NA daily driver.
Overall this is arguably the biggest mod I can do to the car aside from the pending suspension overhaul. Just to clarify though, there was nothing wrong with my stock transmission. It ran just fine, I simply wanted a future-proof setup. I am more than satisfied with how it runs, which is nothing like the stock one at all.
Two thumbs up for Yank, and FLT

How hard does it shift? You said it shifts lighting fast so at WOT does your rpms fall lower going into second than your stock tranny or does it climb up there faster? I have heard good things about that stall will it hold alot of nitrous?

I am getting a few miles on it first so there hasn't been any WOT yet. At part throttle it shifts real nice, I mean you can barely feel it at all, this transmission simply amazes me. It just happens so fast you don't really feel any jerk at all, even though "shift kits" are notorious for that.
About the RPM's, with this converter the RPM should never fall below what the stock converter would do. With the shift extension it should put it somewhere in the high 4000's after an upshift at WOT. I expect 4600-4800 but I will have to wait and see. At any rate it is going to be much higher than stock.
I have a video that I am putting together now. I will put together something with WOT runs later after it is broken in and tuned.

I like how the drivabilty isnt bad with that stall and how it stays around and above 2000 on light throttle. When you get some WOT passes vids together let me know but thanx for the first one!

Chuck at FLT told me the level 4 will hold 600 rwhp 550 rwtq. FLT is building mine right now. After hearing this I can't wait.
