Default Buying a conveter do I need a shift kit?

I am ordering a 3400 stall with 2.2 STR and a 24,000 GVW trans cooler and want to know if I need a shift kit to go with this, I do drive the car daily so this is why I am asking. If I do need one which one should I get? Any help is appreciated thanks.

I ordered a 3200/2.1 stall and don't have it installed yet. Fuddle recommends driving the car a little while to see how you like the shifting, then decide. After my stall installed I am going to get it tuned and see then, I'll let you know

No, you don't need a shift kit. You are just fighting the electronics that way. The car is supposed to shift smooth at part throttle.

Recently installed a Fuddle 3000 and am experiencing audible clutch noise when the converter locks up at part throttle. Talked to John Fuddle about it and he says it is caused by pulse width modulation and will be cured by installation of a shift kit. The shifts are also noticibly softer than with the stock converter, so the shift kit should cure that also.

I wonder if this noise will go away with "tuning" of shift firmness? I have enough $$ for a tune, but not both a tune and shift kit install... Does anyone know?

The smoothness of the shift is because of the TC not the transmission. It doesn't drop as much RPM since it is looser. You are just over straining the trans with the shift kit. The trans is shifting harder than you think it is but you can't feel it.

Did he use a stock clutch for your converter? Hope not.

GET IT TUNED. With tuning you will have your rev limiter and shift points set where they need to be. You can turn your line pressure up also to firm the shifts up.

so we dont really need a shift kit then do we? cuz i know some people say go with a shift kit, and you guys are saying not to! i know a tranny cooler is a must..
