Fuddle 3000 Q's

I have a 3000 Fuddle 2.1 str in a 4L60E and at 65, im at 3k rpm in 3rd (not "D"). Also no matter what gear im in at 30 to about 45 mph the car jerks. at 35-40 if its steady at that speed, it violently jerks. Would this be a tuning issue or did I get a bum converter? I am also running the stock 3:23 gears in the stock 10 bolt. Any input is appriciated.

Sounds to me like you may want to set the Apply and Release mph a little higher, and try that.....tuning. Sounds familiar huh :)

Wow, it's good to see you! Give me a buzz some time and we'll go hang out. I gotta get in touch with you after the 5th. Time for payday hehe.

Omar, I just called and left a message...forgot you switched from TMobile (you are on the evil minute users list now:) ). If you have time today, you can take me and the laptop for a ride and let me see/feel this issue. Never seen a small stall need the apply/release table modified but I am sure theres plenty left in the world I havent experienced.

cablebandit Apr 24, 2006 01:34 PM

sounds like you got a built tranny with the tcc stuff modified....it hits hard when it locks up.....my rockons were like this but no slipping crap :)

CAT3 Apr 24, 2006 01:55 PM

Cable...nope, this is a stock trans that I installed a Fuddle 3k stall in.

cablebandit Apr 24, 2006 02:18 PM

hmmm....that doesnt sound good then

Charlie- I've logged some of the bucking and afr and spark hold steady. Omar's car also acts funky at 16-17 mph, low tps. It almost acts like its commanding a shift that the trans never follows up on. Spark dips very low, sometimes zero for a half second and then comes back to normal. It's intermittent, but when it does happen its always at 16-17 mph. I didn't log any trans pids though, so can't be sure.

Sorry about the cable issue. How was your Maui trip?

Brian

Brian, Maui was great, relaxing and yet great. I left message for SlOmar to call me back, will need to go for a ride, log a couple items. Might be the MAP boundaries need a tweak with his cam. Hopefully the electronics in the trans aren't messing up. Spark down to 0? Weird. Ok, you said when its bucking the spark is fine, but it dips to 0 only ~ 16mph or when, kind of confusing statement on that one.
I know if the min/max MAP boundaries are tripped it makes the trans act funky. Did you guys open the throttle blade any? If so was the TPS reset and does it fall inline with max mV? So many things to do.

bshell Apr 24, 2006 05:42 PM

Glad to hear you got some relaxing done, I know you were long overdue for some.

Didn't mess with min/max MAP, looked a bit higher than stock but I can't remember. He's idling at 850rpm with 55-60 kPa. No DTC is set for being out of the MAP boundary.

Didn't open the tb, only adjusted RAF. RAF is a bit on the high side, but he was ok with it and it settles into idle cleanly.

The bucking is only in the 35-45 mph range or there about. I watched spark and fuel while it was bucking hoping it was just a simple fix, but they both were holding steady. It feels like the converter might be in between lock up and slip (does this sound right?). I've read threads with similar issues, and raising the lockup mph was recommended. I didn't change any of the trans settings though.

The spark dip is separate from the bucking. It only occurs while accelerating through 16-17mph and lasts for about .5 sec. Sometimes spark drops to zero, and sometimes around 5*. He has trouble repeating it, but it always occurred at slight accel through 16-17mph with tps <20%.

He had a couple of other issues that I managed to work out on Friday. His ENG SENS fuse was blown, effectively disabling the MAF and O2s. I found out the passenger side front O2 heater ground pin on the engine harness side had pulled out of its socket and wasn't making a connection anymore. Re-pinned the connector and replaced the fuse and everything seems ok. He did decide to keep his old O2s for a while longer instead of my new ones.

Ok, now I have a better picture of whats going on. I'll have to pull his current tune, since its been updated from my old one. Look at the spark tables, all of them, find the anomoly and fix that. Then the trans is most likely needing to tweak the apply/release mph table. Same symptoms I had with mine, wierd some cars have issues some dont, not limited to years either.

Wow, im glad someone knows this stuff, its all greek to me :jest: Car's are a whole new world......
Charlie, im still with T-mobile. I sent the other phone back cause I was having way too many issues with it.

CAT3 Apr 25, 2006 10:27 AM

Omar, good news on the phone, guess I can still chat wit ya ;) Let me know once Brian loads the new TCC table in if there is anymore problem. Since I didnt log it we may have to adjust a hair here or there.

Brian, send me his current tune please. cat3n4@gmail.com
Omar was able to reproduce the drop in timing/hesitation, which Andrew used to have the same issues long long ago. I will fix it and send it back to you, with a list, or you simply look at the log history to see where I went and changed :)

bshell Apr 25, 2006 07:03 PM

Sounds good. I'll send it tonight after I get off work.

AncientRgn Apr 25, 2006 07:40 PM

Thanks guys. I apriciate this. :)
