Flexplate Question, A4 Trans Pro's step in please
 

A friend of mine and I recently tried to install a TC in a 01 WS6. Long story short, we had trouble with the TC not being in the trans all the way and broke the ears off the pump when we tried to tighten the trans back up to the block. Now we noticed that the flexplate seems bent. Looks to be about 1/8th of an inch it moves back and forth as you spin the engine around. This is with the TC bolted up to it as well. Can anyone tell me if the flexplate should be replaced or if there is a possibility that this is normal and would go away if the trans and TC were in place? I do not think that it is normal but want to be sure. I have gotten different answers from people around here. Thanks in advance.

Chances are if you broke the pump, the flex plate could be hurt as well. I would much rather be safe than sorry. If you have access to a lathe, I would try to check it for run out. It would be a good idea to replace it if this can not be done.

If you notice - all the QUALITY aftermarket flexplates have very high tolerance runout values. This is for a reason.

If your FP is bent that visibly - time for a new one...

Putting everything back together with that FP is just gonna run into more problems - and you'll be taking it apart again :bang:
