What's the difference in Yank's converters?
 
I was looking through Yank's site and they don't seem to give much information about their converters themselves. The majority of the information on the site is all about converters in general and why Yank "makes the best converter you can buy". But they don't tell you anything about the converter lines themselves.

I'd like to know what separates one line of converters from the others in the link listed below.

I'm looking at the 3000-3200 stalls. What makes the Yank Stealth Thruster 3000 different than the Yank SC 3000 listed further down? (Besides the $420 difference) Yank's all-inclusive website hasn't done much to actually talk about the converters themselves. I've searched on this site for information on these two specific converters, but can't find much. Does anyone on here have much knowledge about either?

The difference is the size and weight and what the converter is built for. One of the major differences is one is 278mm and the other is 248mm.

I had the same issue when tryiing to figure out the differences. They have a few that are listed as the same identical converter, but one is like $450 and the other is $850.

I would call Yank. If you tell them your mods and future goals then I'm sure they can recommend the perfect converter for you.

Our old web site had complete dyno graphs of our converters a well as or competition and complete details about all of the converter styles and lines but it caused so much phone traffic (maybe a good thing) but did not allow us to spend required time needed building or converters.
As we are a custom design converter shop and not a mass production shop the number of converters we build per day is low and time is a major factor.

Thanks for all the answers guys, including a rep from Yank themselves.

I guess I was just interested to find out if that $475 Yank 3000 was any good. I'll be in the market for a converter here probably in the next couple months and am probably going to go with a 3000 from either Fuddle or Yank, so just wanted to see what you guys thought.

SC3000 is build for high HP forced induction cars. I guess you could call the "ST" the budget line but I don't know much about them. I can tell you though, that you don't need an SC.

SS is the street line.

PY and PT are more race oriented.

the converter you are asking about is in the special section

it is made from all new parts and will flash to the 3200 range with mild mods
it has a large clutch and works with no special PCM work
but is not the best choice with a large cam or ported heads

What does this converter weigh? I presume it doesn't have a billet front cover.

this converter is non billet but has a thick stamped machined cover and weight is 39 lbs dry

Just to compare, my SS3600 weighs 32lbs dry.

My TCI also weighed 32 lbs. It's a 10" converter and the ST3000 is an 11" - part of the reason for the increased weight. I'm also guessing the front cover is more heavy duty than a TCI, as well as the clutch.
