Converter installed today, what's wrong?

So I got my Fuddle 3600 2.5 STR stall and trans cooler installed today. I have never rode in or driven a car with a high stall, so maybe it's just me. Ok I know you have to give it more gas to get it going, which isn't a problem. My question is, should a stall feel like a slipping clutch. My shifts are alot softer, as expected. Also, after a few hard runs my car wouldnt shift into OD. Parked the car for 5 min, took it out again and everything seemed fine. I am getting a tune next week, is this my problem or is my tranny taking a shit? HELP

Without tuning it's hard to say, for me, as the shift points and torque management may be messing with things.

Not shifting into OD doesn't sound good, though.

A 3600 will slip a good bit. Giving it light-moderate gas you should turn ~2,500 rpm while accelerating. That is where my 3500 stall speed, 2.5STR TCI ran.

are you sure it wasnt going into overdrive or was the converter not locking up?

Ah yes, good point.

Can you tell the difference?

A stalled car may run similer RPMs not locking up in OD as locked in D.

Actually, it wouldn't shift into 3rd, sorry. Took the car out this morning and everything was fine except I was hitting the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift full throttle, which seems like a tuning issue to me.

Yep, you may need to adjust your shift points. Be sure to check your fluid often as well. I've seen many people come back only to find low fluid after a short trip around the block.

I agree, keep checking your fluid level, mine shifted weird and it was low after putting some miles on it right after the instal. Don't skip any steps, use the procedure in the owners manual. Talk to your tuner about deleting/modifying TM too since you have an '02.

watch out for codes like p0757,p0751 as well as lock up problems due to the higer stall. When you get it tuned just mention thoes.

With my PT4000 accelerating on the highway i look at about 2800-3000 RPM's getting up to speed with no lockup. My lockup doesnt work right nwo I need a tune. But cruising on flat surface at about 80MPH I turn about 2500RPM's with no lockup

everybody with "lockup not working" re-set the ecu and it'll work. it is the misfires telling the computer not to lock it up. mine did it a few times as many will. i've even had it where you shut the car off and it'll work after you restart it.

if it still doesn't work you may be looking at a burnt up lockup clutch, or a bad lockup solenoid. the clutches do seem to go bad more than people think. that is why i ran the multi-disk converter :), not gonna burn up 3 clutches but didn't have a problem burning up the single's more than once.

You can also get failure to lock up from a P1870
(component slipping) code. Immature P1870 will
make it quit trying to lock. A couple of P1870s to
get the SES light on. P1870 after key off / key on
will again attempt lockup.

After beating on it with no trans cooler you may
have either gotten the trans so hot it is making
inadequate pressure, or pushed it into the Hot
shift tables.
