Some people make a special adapter to keep the stock length and there are special output shafts but otherwise you are looking at a large outputshaft diameter and totally different length.

It depends on tailshaft length to right?

I have the 4" tailshaft and the distance from the rear end to the tranny was 47 3/8". Much longer than stock, plus the stock slip yoke is way to small. I would plan on a new DS to make sure it fits correctly and I would make your own measurements because every car may be slightly different.

Mine is not 44" with my 12 bolt and 4" tailshaft TH400. Maybe without the slip yoke?. Where are you measuring from to get 44"?

End of yoke to end of output shaft, doesn't have to be perfect.

And you got 44"?

Doesn't have to be perfect, but you don't want it in to far or out to far, might as well get it as right as possible, but I'm **** about that stuff .

Default Short tail TH400

Mine is 44" Center line to centerline of ujoints. My overall length from transmission to rear pinion flat is 47 & 3/8". (Stock rear end) Total length from Center line of rear ujoint to the end the front yoke is 49 & 1/2". My front yoke is 2" from the ujoint C/L to the beginning of the barrel. At this point I have 46" where the barrel begins. The barrel is 3 & 1/2" for a total of 49 & 1/2" . Now there is 1 & 3/8" of the barrel outside the back lip of the trans. The other 2 & 1/8" of the barrel is within the transmission housing. By the way my Output shaft sticks out of the trans housing 5/8". So I have 2 & 3/4" of the trans splines in contact with the splines inside the front yoke. This should leave you with 1 inch clearance when the yoke is bottomed out in the transmission. You need some clearance for installation of the driveshaft. and to keep the yoke from bottoming out on the output shaft when driving.
