Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

I have a Super Yank 3500 and it seems like nobody with 6 speeds will ever race out of the hole (we know that they know they'll get ripped a new one ). So I end up racing from 40 or 80 and with my mods my stall isn't flashing me high enough. Would I gain anything substanial going to a SY4000 or PT4000? I really don't want anything higher than a 4000 stall for street use b/c I don't hardly ever go to the track.

Mods in sig below....

A TP-4400 is AWESOME from a roll

I went from the ST3500 to a YTP 4000 and the SOTP diferrence is very noticable, especially on the 2-3 upshift. It will add another 400 - 500 rpms of shift extension.

Definitely looser in town. 3.23s are livable, but 3.73s feel much better.

I'm thinking about upgrading my SY3500 to an SY4000 also...

Let us know how you like it if you do the upgrade.

I am running 3.42 now. What is the STR of the YTP4400 and the YTP4000?

There's no way I could tolerate a 4400 stall. That's radical even in my terms.

with that cam you should pull on them..

with my vig3600 i can hang and pull on a few.. the 02's give me a fit though!!!

but with skinnies on front its in the bag! but with a modded M6 now thats different

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

Well around here all the M6's have a cam, headers, ram air kits, ported TB's, lid, catback, off-road pipes, etc.

The M6's will also take a 229 duration 580 lift cam really well so they are spinning it to 6800 rpm before shifting and the extension is ~ 5700 or so for them. Meantime I'm seeing ~ 4800-4900 so I'm getting pulled after shifts, especially on the 2-3. These guys can run a 40 punch @ 5,000rpm in first gear or a 75 punch in 2nd.

I'm about to put on a set of ported heads and a ported TB so that will help out. I know the SY4000 will launch great on Notto's but will I be able to launch with a PT4000 with a 2.2 STR on Nitto's running 3.42's? Can I get that converter will a 2.2 STR?

I guess I want the best heads/cam converter that is somewhat streetable (not the YTP4400) and will hook on Nitto's.

Thanks for the feedback..

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

The track I go to isn't all that sticky but I have a heck of a time hooking on et streets with a tp4400/3.73 combo. There really isn't alot of difference between the tp4000 and the 4400. My car is very light so it only flashes to about 4200.

But in short......

more than likely the nittos or gonna be toast.

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

There will not be much difference in launching a YTP 4000 and a SY 4000 because both will needed to be peddled off the line as either one would fry Nittos on the street. The SY will be a hair easier to launch, but the YTP will have better performance from a roll.

The STR of the YTP 4000 will be around 2.4. Don't mess with it. The stator/pump combinations in the YTP series work very well. Lowering the STR to 2.2 would require a different stator and the results in terms of shift extension/efficency would be less certain. Don't screw up a good combo.

I am having the same problem racing a stock 01 from a roll. More stall or gears?

Well guys it is hard to have the best of both worlds.. I have a M6 and you guys can pretty much kill us from a launch. I have not been beat by any A4 from a roll..

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

We still wanna try and have it all

How does the following compare:

ST3800 vs. SY4000 vs. PT4000

I don't want to keep switching converters like Patrick G

Ed: More stall is probably more benefical.

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

Drag Race:
YTP 4000
ST 3800 (close second)
SY 4000

From a Roll:
YTP 4000
SY 4000
ST 3800

Tightest Feel:
ST 3800
SY 4000
YTP 4000 (not much difference with a SY 4000, going to depend on the rpm as to which feels looser)

Re: Need bigger stall for highway racing M6's?

If money is really no problem, get the YTP4000 with 3.73 gears. Otherwise, you may just want to try the verter but it would be too much for me alone. I'd probably end up going 3.73 gears first and then YTP4000 later if I really had to have more.
