4l60e linkage

I was working on the car today and ended up screwing up the linkage. When I was done I lowered the car and started it up. The car immediately jumped in reverse. Then I notice each gear setting was off by one (p= r, r=n, n=d and so on) and was pretty hard to shift once it got past neutral. I am not to familiar with working on transmissions, but is there anything I can do to fix this.
Thanks Gman

You will need to re-adjust the cable at the trans. Sounds like you don't have something in the same place that you removed it from or you still have something loose. Jack it back up and take a look it might be obvious.

I was actually under the car installing a tranny temp gauge sensor along with a few other things. I know I screwed it up by trying to loosen the 15mm bolt on the linkage to try to gain some clearance. When I was trying to loosen it I noticed the whole linkage was moving so I stopped and didn't think anything about it until I lowered the car and started it up. I didn't know if there is a way to adjust it back or if I broke something.

if you kept turning that it would have come off.

The bolt wasn't turning and it was putting pressure on the linkage.
