hp tuning is a waste of time and money, IMHO. Get a good dyno tune, likely pick up both mpg and hp/tq. Make sure to request a full tune including BOTH part throttle and WOT.

You can put it in 3rd around town and it will lockup around 34ish and stay locked to down to 25mph, so that alone will help out.

I assume he meant he has HP Tuners software to tune the car....which is what many shops use for dyno tunes---FAR from a waste of time and money.

Poster: If you do in fact have HP Tuners, set your lockup mph tables lower to lockup the converter at lower speeds. Make sure your VE table is where it should be and your o2 sensors are in good shape. Other than that there's not much you can do other than try to keep your foot out of it.....yeah right.

Yeah hp tuners is what most shops use to dyno tune.

They have such a wid variety of vehicles with their software now. Soon to include even diesel trucks.

As mentioned above just have lock up earlier. I know what you mean. I had a super loose 3600 that would rev to the sky just to get moving. I switched to a Yank PY3400 and all is good/tight.

Waste of time and money? Wow, I almost don't even know what to say to that.

You shouldn't really lose that much with a lockup converter, except the in town driving, but lowering the lockup mph will help out a lot with that.

Yeah ,but you Dont want to lower it to much.It will hurt the Verter due to more load.

Default what do you recommend?

well thanks guys............ like one of the guys say it takes alot of rpm just to move the damn thing...in the freeway its fine because im doing 70-75 highway so it throws it up in over-drive than it goes into cruse mod 1200 rpms's thats what i want... so what rpm or speed range do you recommend to lock up.........do all convertors lock.... i have a fuddle and i hear their not all that.... got it cheap though! but like he said driving in the street is killing me.....

A non-lockup converter will cook your transmission over time. Don't do it.

Dont do it sell it on ebay or something and buy a different one.

A stall convertor without lockup is like driving down the highway with a 6 speed in 3rd gear!
