Default 3200 vig, pt4000 or ss4000 which one?

Which converter would you guys go with on a l92 418ci with a mild cam 236/242 600 and ported l92 heads, 3.73 gears. I am also planning on spraying a 150 shot. I am currently running a 3200 vig, but undecided whether I should keep it or sell it.

I would stay with the Vig3200. It should be stalling at around 3600 or better with your setup. Don't ask me why Vig rates their converters differently than the other manufactures but they do. The SS4000 is a very tight converter and I doubt that you will notice any difference between it and the Vig 3200. The PT4000 should give you a slight advantage when on motor but I don't suspect it will be enough of a gain to make the expense worth while. On the juice everything changes. The Vig3200 should stall closer to 4200. The PT4000 should stall at 4400 at a minimum and could be as high as 4800. You may find your engine will just "blow through" the converter causing a loss of time. I went from a 4200 converter to a Vig3200 and gained three tenths in the eighth. So figure anywhere from five to eight tenths in a full quarter mile. I have played with eight different converters by five different companies and the Vig3200 is by far the best I have found.

Yank just built me a PT3800...tired PI 2800, PI 3400 multidisc, Yank PT4000 (GREAT on motor, blow through on spray), Yank SS3600 (great on spray, too mild on motor), and now getting the PT3800 installed this friday.

I have a 382, big everything, and 175 shot.

I will post how the PT3800 goes. If I were you, I would do a SS3600 or wait until I get a chance to run the PT3800.

A while back the rumor was that PI converters were rated originally for the LT1 and they stalled a bit higher on the LS1's because of the higher HP and TQ numbers. Not sure if this is true or not.
