Default Pulls a LOT Harder In OD

i dunno, it might be a stupid question. it seems like if i step on it from a roll, my car is wayyy faster if im in OD as opposed to D. it just downshifts a lot harder (obviously) and in D it seems like somethings holding me back....normal???

I've noticed the same thing but I know for a fact it has to be a placebo effect because there won't be any difference between the two because you end up in the same gear.

Well I have no proof of this but there may actually be a difference though small due to the coast effect in OD In OD when you let off the gas the engine returns down near idle because of the sprag free wheeling something like how a ten speed works when your not pedaling , So when you hit it the engine does have to spin up a little to catch up i somewhat of a free rev , this could account for the stronger feeling , Now in D and lower manual gears the trans does not free wheel keeping the engine and trans RPMs much closer to the same so no spin up ,

D = OD in a pontiac.

Pontiac has D-3-2-1.

Chevy has OD-D-2-1.

That doesn't apply if you are crusing though. Constant speed and a locked converter.
