Question Will I put a greater chance on breaking my trans if...

my friend was wanting me to post this up for him. he wants to put a torque converter, shift kit, trans cooler, & trans mount in his stock 02 Z tranny. its a bolt ons car and will be taken to the track every now and then but will also be his daily driver.

*will doing those 4 things listed above decrease the life of the trans more or increase the chance of something happening under normal driving conditions?

the stal will generate more heat which is bad but will be ok with a good tranny cooler. as for a shift kit some say it actualy extends tranny life because firmer faster shifts will cause less slipage to the clutches

a converter without a cooler can be a problem. if it has a good size cooler then everything should be ok. if he gets those mods and gets tuned be sure not to up the line pressure in the tune. upped line pressure and a shift kit don't mix well. upped line pressure without a shift kit is still trouble.

the shift firmness you can do with prorgrammers is that what your talking about? so what if he just wanted a shift kit would it be better to go with the street version or strip? would he still have to get it tuned if he just went shift kit, cooler, trans mount?

My car just rolled over 110k last night actually going down the track haha. I have a Midwest 3600 stall and the biggest cooler Autozone sells (half the size of the radiator). I have had absolutely no problems from the completely stock tranny other than the stall. In fact, my cooler works almost too good. In order for a 4l60e to lock up, it must be @ or above approximately 130*. The other night it was 35* outside and I had my cruise set @ 95 and my converter just unlocked and then wouldnt lock back until I got below 60mph. I thought I had killed my tranny and when I went to look at the fluid I realized the cooler was working too well and dropping the temp too low for lockup so that proves the heat isnt a problem with the stall. btw, you will love the sub 1.7 60' times too.

My setup is the same way, m deep/finned pan and huge cooler keeps my Vig unlocked for at least 10-15min of driving at speed, fluid takes a while to heat up, 160f T-stat not help either!

Do the Servos, Cooler and verter, will be fine..
