Default Need a little help with tranny removal (yea i searched)

I took all of the bellhousing bolts out and all the electrical is out. I read that theres 3 torque converter bolts that need to be removed but I dont konw where those are. Are they the ones on teh flywheel. the starter is off also. The friggin thing is tough to get out so i read and have tried but I was wondering if i missed something. I didnt want to be prying on something that was still bolted down. We also took out the two bolts running from the bottom of the housing toward the top of the car. Their fairly long but that didnt help. I have pictures too but Im sure those of you who read this or have done this dont need them.

this is where the plastic thing and the starter were.

you can see the whole where one of the two bolts was located that we removed.

The two bolts that you removed were Engine Oil Pan Bolts.... they do not need to come out to remove the transmission. Be sure to get them back in and properly tightened.

Rotate the engine in while looking at the flexplate through the starter mounting location. You will see the converter bolt heads as they come into view. Remove them one by one and you'll be fine. When you are sure all of the mounting bolts are removed then you will need to pry the engine and tranny apar. There are steel dowels/ loactors that tend to be difficult to get the tranny off of. Don't be afraid to pry, but pry evenly from both sides.

Yes the trannies in F bodies are not any fun to R & R. They are difficult even when up in the air using a hoist and tranny jack. Good luck

I don't have the weight numbers in frt of me.... but I believe I once read that they are 125lbs dry. Don't hold me to that though. And the converter is about 25lbs or so dry. I believe.

Too heavy to try to lift it into place while laying on your back if that's what you are asking! It's not the weight, it's the fact that it is so bulky.
