Default what would cause my tranny to do this????

heres the problem...when i leave it in drive or overdrive while running it, its shifts good, but when i try to shift it manualy it bounces off of the rev limiter...even if i shift it real early it still does it...but if i leave it in d or od..it doesnt...what would be causing this...it has a fresh filter and fluid in it...any help would be appreciated....its a 98Z....

I believe that the 98 computers were the worst out of all of the ls1 based fbodies. I would look at a scan tool and see what commands the computer is seeing when this happens.

Agreed I would look at the commanded shift then see when the actual shift occurs

Why do you need to manually shift it? Tune it to shift right, leave it in OD and let it do its thing.

i leave it in od when i run dead stop...but when i run from a 20 to 30 kick i like to pull it in 1st...

When I run mine in 2nd (20-30mph), just tromp on it and mine shifts back into 1st gear automatically.
