Which Converter and Street ET's ??????

In the near future im going to be buying a convert, transgo, and a tran cooler, but also wanting to buy a couple of street ET's for the back. I was wondering if for the "ocasional" trip to the track what set would last the longest, or perform the best, and also would it be ok to just run street et's all the time or would they wear to quick? and just some ideas about what stall converter would be streetable and track worthy.

THANKS a bunch. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

I'd say about 3-5k on ET streets street driven. Less if your roasting them at the track. I use them but only at the track. I have the Vig3200 stall converter and I cut consistant 1.7X 60' times. My best is a 1.70.

I wouldn't recommend running ET Streets all the time. You are mixing bias ply tires with radials. Makes the car a little squirly. I drive about 40 miles one way to the track with them. The first time you get caught on wet roads with them, if you try and go over 15-20 mph, you will spin out.

How does driving the car with a vig3200 feel? nobody's really ever explained how it affects the driving, if anyone could kinda elaborate on that id appreciate it, and what brand et's are you guys running??

Mickey Thompson makes ET Streets. Driving a car with a high stall converter is hard to describe. The best way to describe it is at light throttle inputs it feels almost like your transmission is slipping. At WOT it just goes. Once the converter locks, it feels no different than stock.

In the FAQ's on Yank's site there is a decent description of looseness.

Vig 3200 is a great converter and works well on Nitrous too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
I would run ET streets (26x10.5x16 on stock wheels) at the track only and nittos on the street.
Cheers,
Chris

Well since nobody has piped in about the ST3500 I will. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I've never owned a Vig converter, and I never will. That's how happy I am with my Yank ST3500.

Streetability is great and it 60ft's like a mofo'r!

I consistantly pull LOW 1.6* 60ft's, with a best of 1.598. MANY, MANY 1.60*'s.

You just gotta know how to launch it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Looseness is something you'll have to get used to. It's not hard though. I don't even notice it anymore.

I dropped .7 in the 1/8 with my ST3500 and ProStars!

Re: Which Converter and Street ET's ??????

There are a couple of guys selling ets in the classifieds but new they are about$170.00 each for 26x11.50x16.I had a set and sold them.I liked them on motor but n2o no.I have a vig 3200 and like it.I am not saying it is better than a yank because I have never owned one.I run 274x40x17 nittos every day.I have ran them at the track also.I have ran every tire pressure you can with the ets and nittos. They 60ft the same.I have got them to 60ft no better than 1.65 on ether. Most of the time 1.68 normally.I know guys are doing better but that may be the track. You say it should 60ft better on the ets but they are a little taller than the nittos and that is probably why.The vig drives great you cant even tell its in there at lockup but you can at the track.I am going to get my stall changed to 3800.This car is drove every day.I would say if you are gonna get a 3200 go ahead and at least get a 3600.That is my opinion.

Re: Which Converter and Street ET's ??????

I appreciate the responses, now ill search for some tires, and save for the converter, im going to probably go with the vig3200-no more than 3800.

Re: Which Converter and Street ET's ??????

Nassty how do you launch your car. I took my car to the track last thurs for the first time with my ST 3500. I could get anything better than 1.81 60's. I had the nitto's down to 14 lbs and tried to lauch harder and just sat there and spun. any advice?

Re: Which Converter and Street ET's ??????

I have found that to run a ST3500 and hook, you have to have ET Streets. I never could get BFG D/R's to hook.

What kind of HP/TQ are the 26x11.5x16 good for? When will you need to go to a slick?
