Car won't move!! Ok this is what happenned. Made one pass on street while testing. All of a sudden I feel a clank and rpms go high immediately going 40 mph. Drive one mile and stop it. Car would not want to move but a couple mph and thats reving high to the rev limiter. Opened tranny. All looks good including planetary gears. Clutches looked burnt. My question is would burnt clutches and steels cause the car not to move or would it still move. And if not what would cause my problem |
Which clutches are burnt? To answer your question, yes....depending on how bad. Sounds like the converter or pump gears might have broke though. |
sounds like the same symptom as I had when I blew up my front pump except my car didnt move at all after i came to a stop.Usually burnt clutches will still let you move unless they are just completely gone |
Sounds like you killed off the pump, :( |
Clutches are supposed to be double sided right. meaning they are supposed to have material on both sides. Well clutches are fine from one side but completely! burnt off from the other side. I believe the set of clutches burnt are the set of 6. the set of 4 look fine. oil has alot! of metal material in it. But like paint looking. I took off alot of chalky material from the magnet. not reallly big pieces just that oil looks like if it was charcoal paint. I think this is what I did wrong. I took off from a stop sign and and got to about 20mph and for what ever stupid reason I accidently put it into neutral and I tried putting it back into drive but while the rpms were revved up high and I felt a clank. Not a loud one ust significant enough for me to feel it. After that the tranny started to go. Managed to get to 50mph but with the engine revving high in 4th gear. Stopped a mile later and car did not want to move but about 5mph with engine revving high. Same thing in reverse. |
By converter gears you mean the splines? |
