3-4 shift at 6500+ rpm - What can go wrong?
Was in the middle of a mind blast today and upshifted from 3-4 at a little above 6500 rpm in 3rd right before it bounced off the rev limiter. What in the tranny is the first to break from high rpm shifts? I've got a fully built tranny but the fluid hasn't been changed in a pretty long time and I'm beginning to worry about something going out soon. The 1-2 shift solenoid has already thrown 2 codes.
What do you auto guys check for before rebuilds?

The most comon failure I have seen from HI RPM shift is the 3-4 clutch failing though if the trans is built properly this realy wouldnt be and issue. Shift solenoid code could be just that simple a sticking or other wise bad solenoid ,Whats the number of the code .

How long is a "pretty long time" since a flush and filter change? If you have accumulated some crap floating around, the filter can clog causing lower pressure and junk can get into the solenoids. It might be worth a flush & filter if you have some hard miles on the car.
