Default 4L60E wont go into park =(

well on the way home i got on it once to about 80mph. Pulled into driveway and then tried to put it in park and it went into reverse? Kept messing with it and put it back into drive and pushed it up once and still stayed in drive (which should be netrual). Put it back into park and it went into reverse again and then i slowly bumped it down 1 by 1 until it went into (N) then turned it off. Im thining my Linkage cable came loose, just have not had the chance to check it. Could this be right?

you prolly knocked the cable/bracket out of adjustment. get the car in the air and look under there at the cable where it attaches to the tranny. it has a clip that pops out with a screwdriver you use to hold the cable after you adjust it to shift properly

My trans did the same thing. I had to pull the pan, and found that the nut had come loose from the shaft that sticks thru the side of the trans. The nut holds the transmission selector to the shaft. just slip the selector back on the shaft and tighten the nut.

this may or may not be the issue

my cable had broken and i did the same thing. put in neutral and used the e-brake. see what is visible first. if there seems to be a problem with the cable itself, if you can adjust it, or whatnot. youll see what needs to be done.

I would jack up the car, take the shifter cable off the bracket on the trans and see if it has back and forth slack. If so, pull the pan. you will loose about 5 quarts of fluid. look and see if the nut is loose. move the shifter back and forth to see where the slack is. if it is loose then tighten the nut. put a new filter and pan gasket on, refill the trans. done deal.
