Default Stock tranny cooler VS Aftermarket

So why again is the stock tranny cooler inferior to the aftermarket designs?

Seeing how they cope with severe duty use with the PD's around here, I don't know why one should upgrade to an aftermarket unit??

Sorry for the newb question, but it I'd like to get a good answer on this.

Because the stock tranny cooler is really just running trans fluid through part of the radiator. That means it will be affected by the engine temp. The stock cooler is fine unless you get a higher stall, with just the stocker and a 3500 stall I was running 240-260*, the tranny might have lasted about 500 miles like that. I tried a B&M 29k BTU cooler, but it only brought it down to about 200*, so now I converted my A/C condenser into one and I haven't seen topside of 160* even in traffic.

Police departments run the stock torque converter and don't
go hot rodding around all that much. Most of the time I see
the FHP Camaro around here it's parked or cruising easy. It
gets less abuse than most, that's for sure.
