2-3 hours at most shops.
Expect to drop ~$150-250 for the work.
(I paid $160 to have mine done)

Javier had a writeup on his site that helps you understand the process.

All the shops in my area are saying around $400 including fluid, filter, and pan gasket.

when they say those trans studs or dowels or whatever are sticky they arent kiddin.... it took like an hour to pry it off cuz we kep thinkin it was still bolted up.... No easy task ill tell ya that. Started at 12 and finished at 8, and hadto go to the store and enjoey a BBq in between. If i could get it for 160.... i woulda

Well, I said screw spending the $400 every shop around here wanted to charge and just did it myself. Wasn't a hard job to do solo. Funny thing, when I called around asking for estimates some of the shops try to make it sound like an impossible task for enyone who isn't a professional transmission builder. I think they were just a bunch of douche bags out to get my money. The Modern Muscle Cars write up was pretty helpful.

just finished pulling my tranny also, had to pry on it for a while the dowel pins were rusty and didn't want to come apart. finally got it and when it goes back in i'm using never seize!
