When did your 4l60e die?
I know asking when will my trans will die is like trying to pick lottery numbers but i just wanted to know wht some others experiances were. When did your stock a4 take a dump..was it from abuse or just normal wear? what kinda 60fts/ets were your running when it let go?
I had to choose between a trans and rear since the new 408 set me back some and i decided on the rear since i knows it a verified weak point now I am kinda worried about the trans. My car is a 98 formula with 487 hp and 462 tq and will hopfully be at least a low 11 maybe better depending on the day
thanks

I think you made the correct choice with the rear end first.
Under "normal" use (whatever the heck that is) the 4l60e will go over 100k miles. Under fbody use, with a built motor, there is absolutely no way to tell. You just cannot predict it. It is like trying to predict when your wife/gf will suddenly get pissed at you. Who the heck knows. But it will go, so start saving your money.
BTW, if you do not already have one, get a transmission cooler. Immediately. It will extend the life of the tranny for xxxx miles. And when the tranny goes, replace the cooler too. There might be some tasty bits in there that will immediately go into your nice new tranny and start working their magic.

I just rebuilt mine about 3000 miles ago. Stock rebuild with a shift kit. I was wondering the same thing because i eventually wanna drop in the cc503, 2500 stall, tranny cooler. Oh and i have full intake and exhaust (i.e. headers/tb/etc.). Should i be in good shape for
X0000 miles or with the added power should i expect it take a ****??

118,000 on my'n...It started to shift a little weird on the 3-4 shift..than 2 days later, i lost 4th gear on my way to school...than on the way home i lost 3rd. To be honest..i would have gotten the trans first, than the rearend. Yes, the rear end is the weak point, but if you just drove it halfway normal, on street tires i think you could make the rearend last a decent amount of time. Where as the trans..thats a whole different story..for example..if you punch it at like 60mph...odds are your not gonna **** your rearend up..but i really doubt the stock trans is gonna like making that shift to 3rd with 487HP...Of course thats just my opinion..either way good luck.

41,000 miles. tranny cooler line had the fin on the side f fthe battery rub on it and rubbed through the rubber line. That caused my fluid to slowly drain out.. burned the 3/4 clutches, so I bought every single piece thats in the transmission.

Mine went out at around 120k but it was my own fault, ran it low on fluid. It was an expensive learning experience. Rebuild and strengthened. I just finished my stall install this morning, I hope it holds another 120k, knock on wood.

tranny went bad
I just had my tranny replaced last month. The car only has 53000 on it. It took the dealer 25 days to fix it. It was a long and drawn out process. Never buy a chevy from a ford dealer and purchase the ford extended warrenty. Still I only had to pay my deductible which was $100.

Mine has a 160k on it's last leg. Shifting is soft and slow. Sometimes at WOT it won't shift from 2nd to 3rd so I have to let off the gas. Not dead yet but it's time for a Built Trans, Cooler, and Stall.

Mine never went out...No, it did but I still have an AMAZING 4L60E that a guy built (in sig) to take the abuse of the track for weeks on end. My original one went out cam-only; and then the week after my 10-bolt broke at the top of the 1/4 mile. Yea, at least I got all that over with!!
