Best converter for MAX ET on DR's???/ I want to make my car more of a TRUE street car. So after the winter I'm going to 15in Drag radials.... I want to know what converter is going to be the best at giving me solid 1.6 60ft on DR's and MAX ET/Traction. I'm running a 4.10 gear and will change to a 3.73 if need be but I'd rather not have to if possible. Also,I'm looking to cross threw the lights at 6500 MAX.. So far I've narrowed it down to a PI3200,Yank SS3600 or possibly a YTP4000? I'm running a TP4500 now and there no way thats gonna hook on anything other than a SLICK... Re: Best converter for MAX ET on DR's???/ what is wrong with your convertor now? i know it hit real hard, but how about not flashing the convertor, but just pushing through the convertor? i love my ST 4000 but admittedly it is real hard to get the numbers you are looking for (i assume low 1.6) with nittos. with BFG i assume it would be a bit easier. i heard the ole SY3500 was real nice and lower str. |
Re: Best converter for MAX ET on DR's???/ 15" BFG 275 Drag radials hook pretty damn well. I've seen guys easily hook a vig 3600 on them, but with 3.42s. In fact a few local Nittomasters like HD get 1.5x 60' on 16" 245s at pretty close to stock weight with 3.23s. I'd try your converter first and then consider a A SY 4000. It should work with BFG drag radials and your 4.10s. Not a lot of STR but enough stall to get you into your power band and provide good torque multiplication. If you go to 3.73s, a YTP 4000 would work with practice. |
Re: Best converter for MAX ET on DR's???/ I agree with Ragtop. A YPT4000 will give you a softer launch with killer mph. Next best choice would be a Super Yank 4000. Don't even consider a Super Stock converter. They hit harder than the Vigilante converters. Not what you want with drag radials. |
