I'm having a problem removing my 4L60E from the engine...

I removed all of the 8 bellhousing bolts, but there are these 2 depressed bolts that seem to be giving me trouble. I dont know if they even are there to attatch the tranny to the engine or what, but there is one on either side of the tranny and I can't figure out why this damn trans. hasn't come off the engine yet...

here's what I'm talking about...

Any ideas or help!! Thanks in advance,

Vann

Those are not bolts. Those are dowel pins. They tend to get a little rusty and the B/H will get stuck on them. Get a pry bar and pry between the B/H and engine while wiggling the tailshaft housing back and forth. You just need to break it loose and it will separate.

its just the seal that the tranny and block have to each other........ those things u pointed out are just studs for the block.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I just pulled mine this last week. I waited til after I dropped the whole front end down before pulling the tranny. It was on there tight, and took a crow bar, three guys, and a lot of wiggleing to get it out. It is heavy as hell too. Pry and rock, and it will come loose.
