Default plastic center support sealing rings on 4l80e

These came in my transtec kit with the teflon rings and a note saying many trans builders use them instead of the teflon rings. They have an L shaped cut in them that butts together when installed. I don't think resizing is necessary. Anybody using them?

Also, I've heard of using a plastic soda bottle to install and size teflon rings. Does anybody know exactly how is this done?

Thanks,
Stevebbc

They will take high line pressure as in full manual TH400's and will not 'Knife edge" as the early cast iron rings. The "teflon" rings work, but are time consuming to install.

I prefer the Teflon rings.Use the direct drum as a sizing tool. Easy to install and no worries about braking a ring during install.

I've actually never broken a ring on any install, just don't open it stupidly wide and it should be fine. Like Dana said, teflon will work but they are more time consuming to install. To stretch them enough to go over the grooves, you typically need to hand tighten them a bit enough to get the drum over nicely enough to not roll the ring or mess it up
