Default Would it be worth to rebilt my stock converter to 3200 for $250??

As the title says. My mechanic knows a guy that does custom converters for people that race in the 1/4 mile. He told me that he has yet to hear a complaint and that he has been dealing with this guy for a long time.

He's basicaly going to take the guts out and make it stronger and set it at a higher stall 3200 all for $250

Worth it??

Nevermind.... thought about it and it's better to do it right the first time rather than regret it later on.

Good decision. A stock converter with that high of stall speed is just going to be heavy and inefficient.

I don't think you could even get a stock size converter to stall that high by using both the front and rear covers.

Yeah... my mechanic has to fix the rear main seal, so I thought that it would be a good time to swap converters, but I don't have the cash for the name brand ones (Damn college tuition and christmas) But, then again, I think that I'm still getting a good deal

1)Tranny service - inluding filter and will fix a minor leak
2)Differental service
3)Tranny mount
4)Rear main seal

All for $430

Look in the for sale section. There's always lots of converters for sale, used, but very affordable. I get nervous when I think about installing a used converter, but if you want one and are short on funds, then what else are you going to do? Just do your research and buy one from a good manufacturer, and talk enough to the seller to get some confidence in what they're selling.
