A question about ss 3600 and STR's.

Ok I plan on getting an ss3600 and probably a 230/230 cam. The cam's torque is flat from 3k to 6k at 385 ft. lbs of torque. The str on the stall is 2.2. So does that mean when I launch the car I'm putting nearly 800tq to the rear wheels? Maybe I'm a bit confused on str's but from what I've been reading, this is a correct statement. If this is so, i doubt my 4l60e is gonna last more than 1 WOT.

anyone?

I believe the str levels off as the rpm's increase so the str may not be that high at peak torque. Yank has a graph on their website showing this.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I believe the STR has the most effect when coming off the line. Theoretically, you would have about 2.2 times more torque at WOT off the line, although I think that is a relative number. I also believe and agree that STR has less effect once the crankshaft speed matches the input shaft on the tranny. Unless you abuse the car, I don't think you'll have a problem as long as you keep up the maintenance and make sure the shift points are all squared away. I had to spend a fair amount of time figuring out where to set mine at and I just have an SS3800 with intake and exhaust. I don't know why I had this trouble but your tranny, as long as it's in good shape now, shouldn't go boom. Just keep the shift points below 6000 RPMs and it should be fine.
