Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! I did a TC install a few weeks ago, no drips. But, I've been developing a drip that collects at the bottom of the bell housing. I didn't reinstall the dipstick bolt because we dropped it and couldn't find it (I do plan on doing this relatively soon). I zip tied the dipstick in the engine bay, so I hope it isn't dripping out of the dipstick hole. So where else could it be? The cooler lines? Or is it probably the dipstick? |
Re: Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! I'd like to know also? |
Re: Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! I hope I'm wrong, but I'd say the front tranny seal. I replaced mine with the converter install. |
Re: Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! But what if it wasn't leaking prior? Would it need that afterwords? |
Re: Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! my friends did the same thing. Had a 3k stall put in, and next thign you know a slight amount of moisture on the bottom of the bellhousing area and eventually blown back across the pan. after seeping for a it started to leak, as in a drop here and there, and overnight. Checked the lines, and pan gasket, TAG not it. had trans pulled, replaced the front seal and the rubber band type seal around the pump, re-installed and drip drip drip. the next morning a little red fluid river under car, same general location, but no fix yet. WTF? |
Re: Leaky transmission, let's play where's the LEAK! Well if the rear cooler lines are anything like the front, I should wrap them up with some plumber's tape and the problem will go away. The front had a problem of leaking through the threads. Possible? |
