what converter for a 232/240
 

I'm in the process of collecting parts for my cam only install and my next purchase will be the stall. I drive the car about 100mi a week and would like to keep it that way.

As far as vendors go, its between circle D or yank and I'm thinking that I need a stall anywhere between 3500 and 4500. But I'm looking for something that will drive on the street but i don't want to leave too much on the table(allot to ask, I know)...

The cam is a custom grind by LSM 232/240@0.050 with .612 on a 113
I have the stock 3.23 gears in her now but I will be upgrading to a 9 in with a 3.73 when it blows..

I know that DD is a gray area but I do have a high tolerance when it comes to driving a performance vehicle, that said let me know what you think...

Our "4C" is perfect for you. Stall is rated at 3800. It has a high STR, 2.5, so it is very drive-able on the street. Especially when you get the 3.73's. It will knock 1/2 second off your ET, or more if you can get traction. It is the best converter when performance and drive-ability are a must. Tech price $700 with free shipping. would the 3800 workwell if and when I do the heads? I want something that will allow me to ad HP in the future...

what do you guys think of using the stock flexplate? how much can it handle?

I have a 100 shot dry that im going to use someday....

The 4C is an absolute perfect match for that set up and will shine even more once you decide to set up to the new heads. You won't be leaving anything measurable on the table.

FWIW- We pulled 1.45-1.47s with the 4C and could hook on any track in the area. It also drives great!

If you still with a N/A that would be awesome stall. A friend of mine had a yank 4000 and had a ls6 with mild cam and pulled 11.50 with full weight car. Just rember with you decided to spray you will have to go to a lower stall or you will blow thru it. Good luck

The "4C" will love the spray! I would suggest the flex-plate change if it is in the budget. It is easy to put on when the converter is out, but if it cracks later you have to pull it out again.

That is a very good point, but the 4C with his set up, will love the 100 shot.

If your friend had the PT4000 with any kind of power and added a 100 shot, he was headed for trouble.

You just have to know what you want and plan your mods appropriately.

well you guys just made up my mind for me! 4c with a TCI flexplate..

I will will be contacting circle D as soon as my tax check comes through(this week)...


I would be happy with 60fts in the 1.5-1.6's, good to know that I wont have to give up too much to do that and still have some street manners... gotta love the f-bods!!
