Rebuilt 4l60e in limp mode!
My poor suburban transmission recently had a unfortunate meltdown so i took it to Aamco for the bad news of $3400. They said they pulled the codes and said the ECM killed it. I purchased a rebuilt 4l60e w/ converter and ECM, had a flawless install and it seems to be in limp mode. I've checked the fuses, electrical connections,fluid ect. And there is 12v at the plug. Any ideas please?

For $3400 they should take care of it, AND cook and serve you dinner for a month.
Not to be difficult, but this is not enough info to go on, and I don't understand why you are asking. Do you not expect Aamco to fix it? If you doubt their work, take it to another local shop.
Sorry, but I kinda doubt your "ECM killed it"; might be a ploy to run up the bill.

Hey my man! Looks to me they over charged you by a lot. If it was me, i could walk you through fixing it, but since you paid an arm and a leg; plus a dinner. Take it back to Aamco and tell them to fix it. That's crazy!

Limp mode
I apologize for not being more specific! I let Aamco diagnose the problem. After they gave me the verbal $3400 beating, I took it home and replaced it myself with a rebuilt unit and ECM.

Does the engine run properly with the replacement PCM and just the trans is not working right?
Can you pull any codes so we know what you are dealing with?

OK. Now we understand; glad you didn't spend the crazy $3400. Generally an open/shorted solenoid will give you a code; with any solenoid codes the PCM will put the trans into limp mode.

still stuck in limp mode,no codes! Help!
I pulled the pan and replaced both shift solonids, checked connections and still in limp mode? My scanner is not pulling codes? Help!

Do you still have your old PCM to try?
I have not heard of the PCM going to limp mode without showing a code.
Are you sure your new PCM has the automatic transmission OS installed?
(If it we setup for manual trans you would have limp mode and no codes.)
I'm not absolutely sure of my comments; perhaps someone else will have corrections or suggestions.

Limp mode
I did try both ECM's and still no codes, the replacement ECM came out of a Tahoe and has the same numbers on it. I think all of the suburbans and tahoes were automatics.

I wonder if there are any other conditions, e.g. faulty trans temp reading, that might put the PCM into limp mode.
Hopefully someone more experienced has ideas.
BTW - If there is no power to the trans, both solenoids are off, and the trans is therefore in 3rd gear.

Did you ever get resolution of this issue? I also have a '05 Suburban with the same symptoms. Very frustrating and not sure what to do next. I would very much appreciate any more info if you have any. Thanks

5 YEARS BEFORE THAT AT A CHEVY DEALER. I CAN TELL YOU THAT EVERYBODY INCLUDING SHOP OWNERS WENT THROUGH STICKER
SHOCK WITH THESE PRICES. WHEN I FIRST OPENED THE AVERAGE $s FOR A OVERHAUL WAS ABOUT 375 WITH A YEAR
WARRANTY. THE FIRST ONE THAT I HAD TO CHARGE OVER A $1000 FOR I FELT SO SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT I DID
THE JOB FOR A LOSS. I SAID ALL THAT TO SAY THIS I'M NO FAN OF AMMCO BUT FOR ALL THESE PEOPLE TO
TELL YOU THAT AMMCO WAS CHARGING YOU TO MUCH IS IRRESPONSIBLE WITHOUT KNOWING THE CONDITION OF THE
