Help needed, we're baffled!

Tranny was just rebuilt because it would try and take off in 4th when OD was selected. Also, when low was selected it bound up like it was in 1st and reverse at the same time. Car still has the same problem after rebuild???????Tranny shop can use the trans tech computer and command the tranny to go into any gear and it works fine. Also rebuilt the engine and reprogrammed the computer. When we tried to dyno the car is when we found these issues. Tech switched out the computers and put in one with a stock tune and it still had the problem......................any guesses??? Did we pinch or break a wire on the install??

i would try to see if the top of the trans bellhousing pinched the wire loom that runs across the back of the engine

Will Do, Thanks

do you have a transgo hd2 kit in the tranny sounds to me it was trying to take off in 3rd which is limp mode if you have the hd2 kit it will bind up if the trany is in limp mode becuase the hd2 kit manually locks first so with it in third and first you would get a transbrake....check fuses check the connector make sure its plugged in if you do not have the hd2 kit then you have a internal issue

If you have the trans-go hd-2 kit, Robert above is spot on. For what ever reason your transmission is in limp mode due to an electrical issue. Check your fuses first. I have seen when work has been done to a vehicle, for what ever reason, either a fuse has blown or a wire has been pinched or rubbed though. Make sure all ground straps are connected and tight. Also make sure that the main case connector on the trans is fully plugged and snapped in place.

We ain't there yet Toto!!!!

:bang:ok checked the fuses, all good! Had one o2 sensor not working, replacing both. Checking all grounds (5 in all I think)above oil filter, three on back of heads and one on pass side. correct? One other question, shouldn't the trans be setting a code for the limp home mode????????? no codes from tans at this time. My guy says sometimes you have to drive it a few cycles for the code to pop? true??? :bang:

He said that he was not getting any trans codes. If the connector was unplugged it should throw all of them. Step away from the computer!!!!!JFWY Robert:nod: It is always a good idea to double check your connections but it sounds like you have a power/ground issue to the trans. Might be a good idea to get a schematic for the wiring and go over everything. Have you verified power at the trans? Also have you had any of the tests for codes deleted in your tune? If so maybe you should turn them back on to help find the problem. Just a thought. Vince

yeah we pulled the plug and made sure it has 12v going in, and the ground pin is working. checked all the fuses this morning, they all had 12 volts also. yeah downloaded the schematics this afternoon. will start checking wiring tomorrow. also bought two new o2 sensors today. Just to make sure one of their wires had not grounded out. only one was shown to be working. will get those in tomorrow also. We won't give up!!

this may be a shot in the dark but have you dropped the pan and made sure that the connectors inside the tranny are plugged up lol sounds wierd what you have but thats the only other thing I could think of I have seen the filter pinch wires mostly the lockup wires but worth a shot lol

nz12's Jun 25, 2008 01:12 AM

yeah we had the pan off checking out the solenoids, didn't see any bad wires. Going to get the wiring harness in the morning. That will eliminate the wire problems hopefully.

nz12's Jun 27, 2008 12:22 AM

Finally, we swapped out the computer today and the problem ceased to exists!

Thanks for all your help!
