Default Anyone a Parts Guy?

Local dealership is looking for a parts guy, not quite sure I'm qualified but hopefully will be interviewing soon. Any experiance, tips, salary? Whatcha guys know?

the best parts guys know a little about cars and can get an idea of what a customer is looking for from some pretty vague descriptions

base salary + commish dumdumdum

man its not that bad i was one at the local chevy house for a year i hooked up alot of friends and made some friends hooked myself up too you get alot of knowledge about the little things

yeah if you have the basics youll be fine. when i worked in parts alot of the people that came in alot and knew alot about cars already knew what they needed or wanted and they would teach me a few things along the way.

It is usually decent money. They will base your pay off experience though. If you work hard, you should have a few raises in no time.

manager keeps asking me if i want to get promoted to parts counter..... only problem i have is i dont trust myself lol i dont want to waste their time training me and me leave like a few months later, but usually the base pay is what?

if you get commish you just need to establish repeat customers and get your name out there

another perk is customers who call telling you they have a "94 formula GT with an LT4" and that "it's stock"

I am. Depending on what parts catalog they are using it can be pretty simple. What type of dealership is it? Im a gm/ford parts guy.
