New mile record 253 mph?

Default New mile record 253 mph?
I've seen some post on other web sites about a TT Ford GT running 253 mph at a Florida mile event recently. Anyone have any vids. or pics.? BTW, this is a big step up from the previous record set at the Texas Mile of 246 by SW's Supra.

I thought that this kinda **** wasnt impressive? no one says oh wow the veyron can go 252mph but a super tricked out ford Gt with twins gets the recognition for 1mph faster.

the veyron went 253 in a standing mile? not really. from a roll maybe. the veyron ONLY has 1000hp. these standing mile cars have 1200+rwhp. So yes 253 standing gets a WOW! no matter what brand does it.

IIRC, a few years ago a Lingenfelter TT C6 Z06 did 260mph (I think) in one mile. The car was making over 1200rwhp.

1) I do say "oh wow, the Veyron can go 252mph" and 2) the Veyron does not do it in 1 mile like this uber impressive Ford GT did.

that's intense. I bet if he had traction he'd have pulled a MUCH faster speed. He was probably looking at 270+

Just in case your wondering the Veyron does about 203 mph through the mile. Ford GT - 50 mph faster then a 1,000 hp super car.

the corvette twin turbo hasnt gone 260 i think it was close to 226 or 230
the bugatti does a little over 200

the 2wd drive big v8 cars have trouble puttin all the power down (no tranny can be reliable at these power levels and the first half of the mile is alot of wheel spin)

the fact the ford did 253 and still has some left in it is incredible...but i have a feeling at the rate these cars are getting R&D that record wont last long either

the shop that did it is performance power its all over youtube

It was done by Johnny Bohmer's PPR TT Ford GT. The car was at the West Palm Beach SCX a couple weeks ago

Norm Kroner's Lingenfelter TT Vette has done 226 in the mile, not 260. 253 mph is the record as of now.
