Cool Spied Again: 2011/2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28

2011/2012 Camaro Z28 Sheds Some Camo - Shows Grille, Front Lip Spoiler and Cowl Shape
Link to Thread at Camaro5

September 21, 2010

The 2011/2012 Camaro Z28 prototypes have lost some of its front end camouflage, exposing the grille, new lower front fascia (which now features a front lip spoiler which extends out very aggressively). The shape and size of the aggressive hood cowl (with scoops) can also be made out in the photos. To our eyes, it looks like there may be a scoop at the front of the cowl and 4 inlet scoops in the middle of the cowl. The silver hood pins could be there just for testing purposes.

A set of 20-inch wheels, wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 tires appear on the Z28 prototype and the brakes are those from the Cadillac CTS-V.

While the photos don't show it, the photographer also noticed a few pieces of body-colored tape across the trunk lid on this prototype, which may be covering the fastener points for a rear spoiler.
Photos at the link.

pretty big front spoiler with what looks like some decent sized meat in the back (tires). The hood scoop is really obvious under the mask too

I agree, though I love them in black (or dark grey) as well.

Put a polished lip on them and the wheels would look great.

Keep the wheels in that color, says I.

I'm glad it's not getting the SLP/Bumblebee giant scoop hood. Always hated that.

I'm liking what I see so far. The success of the Z28 will be determined by the price. Considering the popularity of the 5th gen so far, the Z28 should be a hit for GM if the price is right.

I just can't stand all black wheels. I live in such a small town, I'm the only f-body I see with aftermarket wheels or I was til I sold my Fikses so I don't see them enough to get bothered by it.

Looks like it does have a SLP hood underneath but maybe a split in the center like the 96-97 Ram Air hoods.

Those wheels are hideous. I hate designs like that... hopefuly they will offer something nicer as a option.

I just fear that since they are takin so ****** long to get this car out that the GT500 will be making 700 hp by then and will destroy this. Its already gettin close since the GT500 makes 550 now.
Do they really need to test this ****** thing so long? The engine is in other cars the rest of it is gonna be mostly stock SS parts. I dont think you need to road test the ****** shocks for years. GET IT OUT!!

^^^^ I definately see Ford uping the HP on the Cobra in response to this. Not that they really have to. Unless GM sheds some weight on this beast the Cobra still has a great weight advatage.

They only recently (within the past serveral months) decided to go ahead with the Z28 before that was ALL internet rumors nothing official till recently and of course they cant just toss in a LSA into a SS and call it a Z28 chances are suspension changes, hopefully weight, new hood and front bumper not to mention the raised hood and rumored wider fenders. All that has to be tested to work perfectly. So in a way its not just an SS with a different motor, its a whole new model. It's coming out as a 2012 so id say its coming rather quick and just in time since the GT500 just got its HP up for 2011 and the Challenger SRT-8 just got a HP bump as well.

My guess it that it weighs ~300lbs more than an SS.
