Default Mazda’s ‘Holy Grail’ Of Gasoline Engines Is Completely Fascinating

I found this very interesting and am currently doing a similar/opposite design at work right now. I am a mechanical engineer that designs innovative engines and fuel systems for military contracts. I am designing a spark ignition 2-stroke engine to run on diesel fuel right now. Military wants to eliminate gasoline in the battle field for safety and simplify the logistics/reduce costs associated with transporting multiple fuels, especially flammable fuels (i.e. gasoline). They want to retain existing spark ignition gasoline engines and find a way to run them on heavy fuels.

The fine line between gasoline and diesel engines is becoming more blurred as we move forward with engine technology.
