Supercharged 427 Z06?
Got this off the Motor Trend 2007 vehicle forecast. Somehow I doubt it's correct.
"2007 Chevrolet Corvette : The Corvette team has cooked up a Ford GT fighter known internally as the "Blue Devil." Packing a supercharged 427-cid V-8 and extensive carbon fiber, the Blue Devil is being considered for production."

Who knows for sure. Still, if they lowered the compression, and added in a blower cam, I'd be pretty scared of what that 427 will put out.
I'm waiting for the Ford GT/Viper/Zo6 comparison. I figure the Z06 will be the slowest, but not by much.

The great thing here is the Big Three are getting serious about performance again. And these cars will handle too! the late 70s , all of the 80s , the early 90s were crappy times for enthusiasts.

I'm with ya on that , Christos. I love my thirdgen 'vert and just about have everything I need to put the LS1/T56 in it. I had an '88 5.7 IROC and an '87 'Vette, great on looks , low on HP.

I wanted to do a LS1 transplant, but my I got my SS for much less than it would cost to do it.

I could have bought an SS for what I'll have in the swap and suspension upgrades. Still , it will be a rather unique car. Just for pure evil , I'm leaving the RS badges and tailights on it.

I am anxiously awaiting and saving my pennies for one of these. I saw the Z06 and sat in a regular C6 this last weekend at the Chicago Auto Show and I want the Z06 BAD. I may just forgo modding my car any further to help save for one, which won't be easy as I'm saving for a house too.
I will get either a Z06 and I'll add my own blower to it, or I'll just wait for project Blue Devil. Hopefully, it won't be more than, say, 10k more than the regular Z06. I just can't wait.

I'm sure the hardcore enthusiast would be all over it. Basicly, the same guys that buy a brad new vette and then ship it to Lingenfelter. I imagine the prices would be $125K+ if it's built to the rumored specs. In reality I would be surprised if the car made anywhere close to 550rwhp. It's kind of tough putting out high horsepower production vehicles. Plus from what I hear this was originally proposed in the mid 90's and GM still won't shell out the funding. Hopefully the pressure is on and GM will pull their thumbs out of their asses and get into the super car game.

With the new 427 being handbuilt I don't see why it wouldn't be coming with a s/c sometime soon. How hard would it be to add in lower compression pistons while building these 427 beasts by hand? Not very hard......just a FI enthusiast hoping GM adds some boost to its top o the line pavement melter.
