Well our 05 CTS V's rear end blew up on me last night. So long story short where do I go to get a new one? It messed up the drive shaft also. I live in riverside ca. If someone knows a shop in my area please let me know. Idealy I want the best rear end out. Any help will greatly be appriciated.

There should be some used rears out there. I saw a whole rear cradle/diff/suspension assembly on ebay. You should have all the parts you need. The risk is that you don't know the condition, but it's at least in one piece. Good luck man!

If money is not the issue, I think there's a place out in Cali call The Corvette Shop or something that will put a Viper rear in for you. If you will take a new stock replacement, then just take it to your local caddy dealer and have them put a new one in.

I can fix it myself I just need some parts. Yeah I dont know about the stock crap going back in even though it lasted 58k. The dealer qouted me 2600 for a new rear. That's not with install. Screw that. I think that is way too much for something that blows up if you get on it hard. So the Corvette Shop is the place I am looking for? Anyone know what city that is in?

I think they're in San Diego:

Yeah, owner of the shop's name is Larry. Awesome guy, real down to earth. The number to reach em at is (858) 277-8388 - tell em Micah says hi and that the headers sound great

Has anyone ever purchased one (carrier assy) from GM parts direct? I see they have a whole array of them on there from $650 to $1400. I'd guess that the V piece is the most expensive one but you'd have to email or call to find out.

Driving it the same as always. Going into 2nd gear and boom. Nothing all crazy we have been noticing the clunk sound for some time now I figured it was because of the bushings being rubber and the car having 58k on it. We have had nothing but issues with this car. But it is so much fun to drive when working proberly. Most of the issues have all been electrical.

Well here is the latest update. GM called us up and now it sits at the Caddy dealership. I will know tomorrow what they think about it. But if I get run around I want to go viper rear end for sure.
