Heads/Cammed V Guys Come Inside..

What heads and cam combos are your running? What WHP are you getting out of them? I have the MS4/PRC Stg 2.5 LS6 heads package. Was offered to swap the cam for a HPE "S" cam, I was told it makes better mid range power than the MS4, but can't find a dyno graph so i can look at the power curve VS the MS4. There will also be a 125 shot involved. Run the MS4 or swap for the "S" cam?

mid 400s heads/cam and then add about 100 for the 125 shot.

like 440s hp heads/cam and then add about 100 for the 125 shot.

Should i just run the MS4 or swap for the "S" cam? Or are they going to be so camparable i wont notice much if anything?

I dont know the specs on the S cam but i know the MS3 and MS4 shine way up high in the RPM range. Whether its worth dropping the power band down some Im not sure its worth the trouble, but heads/cam(ms4) and 125 shot revving to 6800rpm would scary me personally for a prolonged period of time.

Its not worth the trouble of swapping out the MS4. Its already a good cam. It might peak alittle higher but dont get caught up in the "power under the curve " crap from all the internet mechanics. If you car is making good power then leave it.

Id spend the money elsewere like a fast 102 or something else.

I agree a FAST would pick up some good power but i honestly think more power wont help too much, unless you have a built rear i cant see you putting down the power you have now to the ground.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll just stick with the MS4 and get it tuned then..

MS4 will make more power and torque than a "S" cam

My buddy has the S cam in his car with HPE stage 2 heads. Nice cam. Sounds mean and pulls from lower than the MS4 but prob not worth swapping it out in your situation...

BTW, where did you buy your car from? I see you finally found a V...

I got one out of michigan. It was a long search...

My cam is similar to the HPE-S cam. I think you will get peak # with the MS4 cam, but get a better area under the curve with the S cam. If I had to do it again, I would go one smaller than what I have now. I get some surging from idle to 1700 rpms and exhuast/gas smell at a light. Otherwise, it pulls hard after 4k.
