Stroke my LS2 or get a stroker LS3?

Stroke my LS2 or get a stroker LS3?
I'm trying to decide what to do. What do you guys think? Here are my 3 options that I'm contemplating.
1. Machine my stock LS2 block and build it up with a 4" stroker kit. I'm looking for about 500 to the wheels with this setup. This will cost me roughly $4000 in parts and machining.
2. Purchase a 402 short block and achieve the same results as #1, but I'll have my current bottom end (which needs work) as a backup or sell it. This option is about $500 more than #1.
3. Purchase a 418 stroker LS3 short block and build it up with a cam, heads and intake. This will cost about $1500 more than #1. Any ideas how much this would get to the tires? I was thinking it should be over 550, but I'm not sure.

The first part of this thread deals with a 402... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...b-c-d-e-f.html
Plenty stout, basically your option 1, but with the L92/LS3 type heads and a little help from Virginia Speed.

I just need to figure out how much modification needs to be done to use a stroked LS3 short block with supporting heads and intake.

Option1 good as it gets stick with your ls2 block machine it and buy u a stroker stick with ur 243 heads when ported you'll be plenty happy this setup with a big cam will give u over 550 to the wheels with a little more money in your pocket at te end

This will make for a much nicer driving car, but I guess that it's a matter of personal preference. Since the car is relatively civilized to begin with, I just preferred to keep it that way.

I personally like the larger bore motors since they have many more head options and less valve shrouding. If it was me Id do the 416 LS3 stroker with a set of ported L92 heads from WCCH and an LS3 intake or if money allowed or later on a FAST setup. Id put all my money into the long block first and let it be choked at the intake then as money allowed switch the induction. Its much easier to change an intake than heads.

I'm sure a 4.0L Whipple on an LS3 stroker (or 440 LS7 stroker) will be in the future, but most likely not in the V. It'll be way to much work to get the rest of the car up to the task. This upgrade will hold me over for a couple years just like the initial head & cam upgrade that got me to 440 N/A rwHp.
