Default Emergency Brake Release Broken

As the title reads I was in a hotel parking lot getting ready for the 2nd leg of my road trip and I pulled the brake release and the handle and about 2' of the cable itself came loose in my hand...The cable was severed, looks like it has been rubbing against something for a while. Has anyone else experienced this and or have any ideas on where to find a replacement other than a dealer...I've called all the local junkyards.

It will be the same as a regular CTS so make sure you are looking for any CTS 04-07.

You probably don't need to replace the whole assembly as long as your e-brake handle is intact. You only need to replace the cable.
Mine did the same thing last month. I pulled to release and was left with the handle in hand and a bit of cable.

I purcahsed the cable from my local Cadillac dealer ... part number is 89047821 for $12.16.

For the installation, note how the original cable has a bit of a loop around between the handle and the e-brake release mechanism - you will need to do the same loop to make it fir properly. In order to gain access to the area, you will need to remove the bottom dash panel and the e-brake bracket. Install the new cable in the e-brake handle reinstall the e-brake handle into the dash. Loop the cable like it was in the stock configration and then install the other end of the new cable into the e-brake assembly. If you take your time, you'll be done in one hour.

Thanks...That's exactly my situation....And I hit it with my size 15 by accident the other day so I now have a VERY good understanding on how the thing routes.....I ordered it from the local dealer...cost me $14.66...Should be in Monday

Glad I found this thread. Mine just snapped this morning while I was running late for work. Thankfully the ebrake released but I had to listen to the warning dinger sound for 35 minutes lol
