Default CAI difference between V1's

Do any of you fella's happen to know the difference between the cold air intake kits for 04-05 and 06-07?

Volant and K&N have the years split up with corresponding part number differences. I was under the assumption that the TB's 04-07 all had the 4" lip and same MAF sensor.

I have an LS6 and have a fast intake with LS2 tb on the way and need to know which cai to go with.

Only info i can give is dont buy a K&N, thing sucks in the heat. ill be chaning back to a stock airbox or volant in the spring because when its hot out the intake does nothing to get cool air to the motor.

Thanks for the info. The Volant looks like a nice setup. I just don't know about compatibility for my 04 that will be equipped with the LS2 TB.

If you have a 90 on the way, I'd use the LS2 kit. The only difference is the LS2 kit has a nipple on the intake tube. The old 78mm TB had a nipple that gets deleted with the 90 and the hose needs a new home.

This, when I was running the intake, I was using one of the DIY intake piping, and had to drill a hole in the silicon elbow to make the pcv setup right

You can make an 04-05 volant kit work on the 90, you just need to drill and install a nipple into the intake tube. Thats what I have done. Well almost, the nipple is in the cup holder awaiting its new home.

I removed my K&N and put the stock intake back on my 05 because of the heat soak. I am going to try to adapt the K&N tube to the stock air box and I think that will work just fine.

good to hear some discussion on this topic, as i am in the dilemma of what intake to go with... looks like the stock intake and a drop in K&N filter will be the best route for me to go... nice and cheap!!

yes and no, the stock intake tube kinda sucks, but the airbox isnt too bad. And i know for a fact the a K&n drop in does about nothing. I used to use paper filters in my SS beccause we saw no gain from a k&n in the Fast toys ram air kit.

Maybe they're all about the same, but the AC Delco paper filter has a LOT of filter media. Great for catching dirt and flowing pretty well.
