PCM Help
Does anyone has the procedure for installing a new pcm ? The 05 V I just bought has a damaged one so I am going to buy a replacement from a 04 or 05 V and install it. Car is basically stock.
Thanks for the help!

Remember a replacement has to be programmed for your VIN. A dealer should be able to help you with that or contact W4M performance.
Procedure: http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/sm/pcm.html
After you do it once you can actually do it with the car on the ground (not jacked up) and just turn the wheel full lock (at least I have been able to do it that way multiple times). It's basically behind the drivers side wheel well toward front of car. So all I do is take out the front part of that wheel well and you can look in and see the PCM. The pcm is held in a tray with a plastic tab holding it in place at the top of the pcm. You press in that tab and the pcm will let loose. There are 3 plugs to take off. That's really it. The first time is the hardest but after that it is cake. You should disconnect battery.

So will I need to reprogram the vin even though its from an 04-05 V and mine is a 05 V? Are there steps you can do with the car to have it learn the vin or does a dealer have to do it?
Sorry just a bit confused with how this works.

The VIN has to be programmed in to be able to work with the security system correctly. If you just put the new PCM in you will not be able to start the car. The NAV screen will display something like 'starting disabled'.

Not sure what a dealer would charge but you really might consider ordering a tuned pcm from W4M. It's cheap... especially for the 04/05s, and will give you better mpg and better throttle response... not to mention the performance increase.

You'll generally pay more for one from a V, but if you're not going to get a "pre-flashed" mail-order one, you should be looking for one with Service #12589462 and Hardware #12589161. These come in several vehicles. but are pretty common in '04 Suburbans and Yukons with a 5.3L and can be had for $75 or so.
