Default Anyone got $13,000 laying around they want to give me?

If so, I was thinking I could pick up a new (well, used) engine for the V.

Own a piece of Katech history! This is a used FIA GT1-spec Corvette C5-R race engine. Over $85,000 new as shown

4000 race miles since last rebuild
9000 miles total on block/heads

425 cubic inches
4.120 bore
3.985 stroke
12.5:1 compression ratio

C5-R race block (not GMPP block - no liners - nikasil-coated bores) - hot honed with deck plates
CNC-ported C5-R aluminum race heads with bronze valve guides and copper berrylium Del West titanium intake and exhaust valves 2.180"/1.625"
Mahle 2618 forged aluminum pistons
Bryant forged steel crankshaft
Crower H-beam billet titanium connecting rods
Katech C5-R timing chain
LSM solid roller camshaft
Jesel 1.7:1 roller rockers
Jesel .937" solid roller lifters
Auto Verdi 5 stage dry sump pump (4 scavenge, 1 pressure)
Katech billet aluminum oil pan
Katech cross-ram carbon fiber individual runner intake manifold - 8 individual throttle bodies
Katech carbon fiber airbox tray
Katech aluminum a-plate
Katech C5-R carbon fiber valve covers
Katech modified LS1 aluminum water pump
Bosch ignition system
ATI damper

Recently validated on the engine dynamometer
552hp restricted through 2 31.2mm restrictors
596ft-lbs of torque
Can easily be converted to 700hp+ unrestricted
2 31.2mm restrictors have ~32% the flow area of a single 78mm throttle body, and only ~24% the flow area of a 90mm throttle body, so that gives you some idea of the restriction this thing was breathing through.

I can only imagine how ridiculous the throttle response must be with the individual throttle bodies and all that power/torque!

That would be a steal at anything near that price.

I'm game. But you won't like the interest rate.

If I had $13k to blow, I'd be buying that 572 cid for the chevelle instead, lol Not so sure this 'race' engine would be tractable enough day to day. Be neat to say you have it though.

I'm sure you're right. If I had boatloads of money, and was building a nasty track toy, though, this thing would be a no-brainer.

Katech should recycle that motor into the new World Challenge CTS V coupe. What a piece. I would display that motor in my living room.

Or in my car lol

Yeah I saw that little tidbit of info....I was so shocked I couldn't even manage a response to that.....And the 12,900 is the starting bid.. I could only imagine where this thing would go if a bidding war happened to break out.

Intake is over $10k
Oil pump is $10k
I could go on and on.

You don't want to know what the price of the newer LS7.R is then.

Geez. I'm sure if you had the money it would be so worth it though. Very cool.
