Default how to remove drivers side seat 06 V

So today I went to the GMC dealer to pay $85 to find out the motor that makes the seat back tilt forward and backward is cooked (at 5K miles, yet). I order the motor for $82 plus $15 overnight because I cant stand driving tilted all the way forward! Tech is bustin my chops, says "it's only two 10 mm bolts to loosen the whole seat, then 2 bolts to take out the motor and now your gonna pay another $85 hour service to have me put it in for you?" Any of you experts taken out a front seat before? Is it really "ony two 10 mm bolts?" I'm thinking of doing it right in their parking lot at least I'd have backup if I f'd it all up!

It's #5 in the diagram

I find it hard to believe that (2) 10mm bolts are holding the seat down.

My Chevy Colorado had (4)18mm bolts holding it down, my 96 Escort has (4) 15mm(IIRC), so does my 95 S-10.

Looking at the diagram, I think he's talking about the (4) bolts holding the actual motor on...

Btu, I've never even looked under my seat so...take that with a grain of salt I guess

From what I understand, it's two bolts in the back with "hooks" (for lack of a better term) in the front. When you unbolt the back, you tilt the seat forward to release the hooks in the front.

I haven't completely removed the seats, but I unbolted the back and tilted up my passenger seat when I was running the wiring for my ipod adapter (under the rear carpet).

I just got back in the house, the 2 bolts, 2 hooks theory is correct. It just took me a while to figure out you can unbolt THEN unhook and the entire top of the seat just comes straight off in your hands! Now ultra simle to remove ANYTHING under the seat. Had motor out in 10 minutes at this point. Question for tech tomorrow: why would you leave 5 various nuts, bolts and washers loose under my seat? These I have no idea of where they belong! Thanks to swiss, right on the money. But who woulda thought a CTSV would be so simple? Im gonna put it back together in their parking lot tomorrow, see what kind of respose that produces. There was a bit more to this story: They ordered the wrong part ($462) and I figured it out and went right back there. Gotta wonder if they would have still charged me $462 for $82 motor?

Don't know that you have to remove the seat though, do you? Often the seat cushion can be removed with the seat in place.

Absolutely correct. Check this out: The GMC dealer allowed me to install the new motor in his lot. Tech came out twice to give me a hand, mostly replacing seat correctly. Tech lost $$ by me cancelling service appointment, refused $20 I tried to slip him, I saved $85 by doing it (mostly) myself. I was truly impressed-not a feeling I've gotten often from big car dealerships!

Last time I pulled my interior out, I unplugged the battery for 30min.
Its on the side. There is a cover that is labeled Air Bag on the seat.
