I think my high beams work great, probably the best headlight combo i have ever seen on a car as far as seeing a good distance away and really lighting up the area. Maybe yours are angled wrong.

soo you start a thread, and all you say is the CTS-V high beams suck...do you have a question to what could fix the "issue", or do you want to know if anyone else has had the same "issue", or what. try some halo headlights with 12k bulbs and audi led's...

if you are just going to bitch about something in one, single run on sentence, STFU and dont start a damn thread.

HID's in the high-beam will not have as bright a beam on the ground as the low-beams. This is because the lows concentrate their light straight ahead and below, the highs shine everywhere.

That said, I find the stock lighting to be excellent, better than any car I've owned thus far. The high beam color is sorta yellow by comparison, but plenty good enough.

Mine are fine too. I do have a set of Silverstars to go in the highs & fogs but when I found out you gotta take the bumper off to change them I decided to wait til I had a garage & plenty of time.

I went with PIAA Intense White in my high beams and fogs. They are pretty bright and have a slight purple tint, so they look great with the stock hids. They also look nice when unlocking the doors at night. I used to hate the dull yellow highbeams when I unlocked the car.

You can use any 9005 by the way (stock is 9005xs). If you go that route, they do require slight modification for the high beams. You just have to trim a little piece of the round part that locks into the socket.

Are they 9005's?! I haven't torn into it yet but my computer at work (Auto Zone) said 9006xs for the highs. I thought that quite odd cause "6" is always a low beam.

Your high beams come on when you unlock the car?

If the car thinks it is dark, they will come on when you hit the "unlock" on the fob.

It looks like the non-hid lights use a 9006 high beam and the hid lights use 9005:

I wouldn't have thought they would be different.

I think there is a setting somewhere on the menu that you can turn that off. Bud's may not be set up the same way.

That suggests they are not different. Both have a 9005 high beam, the only difference is the low beam. One is a 9006, one a D1S.

Just full of info I see... are all your 96 posts like this?

Did you perhaps use 35watt HID for high beams rather than 55watt? you dont mention anything in your short one liner posts of what you used, ballasts, product, type, K° color, etc.
my bet is on the USER not knowing what he is doing, not the idea of HID for high beams.

I had to replace the hid bulbs in my V so I went with a 5 K, b/c its pure white and really bright, and since I knew I was going to have the bumper off anyways, I put a set of 5K Hids in the fogs too. My high beams are fine. Im not big on hid for highs bc I hardly ever have to use them unless I high beam another car. Like someone already suggested, if he put Hids in his highs, the K is probably 10,000 or more. The lower the k the brighter. The higher the k the more color you have but with less visibility.
