Bout to hit drag strip thinking bout going with Nitto nt05r. Stock rear-end in 07. Has anyone had any issues? not looking to launch to hard but would love to be able to come out at 15-1800, without spinning. thanks

The issue most guys have is wheelhop or broken diff when drag racing. Diff won't take a sticky tire very well from a stop. Make sure you at least have some anti-wheeelhop axles before you hit the drag strip.

Yeah...I probably wouldn't run stickier tires without a beefed up rear even in stock form. And even though a few guys have pulled a 1.9x or 2.0x 60 foot out of their V1s, I'm happy with my 2.1xs as long as I get to drive it home afterward.

FWIW, broke not one, but two axle shafts on my 2006 STS-V at the drag strip and had Michelin PS's out back !!

Definitely take whatever steps are needed to beef up the stock unit.

Dudesweet i ran almost identical to your numbers...2.1 60ft 13.17. I want 12's, thinking tires will get me there. Yea I'll probably do some up grading to rear first. It is nice to drive it home.

Some tracks are also faster than others due to altitude and prep or the lack thereof.

Have you taken the GXP to the track? I wonder how they do vs. the V1. Thought about getting one vs getting my V1 when I bought it about a year and a half ago. It was hard to find a 6sp. and prices were stupid. In retrospect, the GXP retained its value much better than the V. :/

EDIT: To stay on topic, GFALLEN from what I understand, wheel hop is the general cause for diff breakage so axles and bushings would go a long way to protect you from blowing up @ the track, esp. if you are only launching at 1500-1800rpm. Its those 3k clutch drops you gotta look out for. LOL!

Sorry bro but for having long tubes thats pretty bad you should be running a 13.2 with hardly any effort.

06killerv that sounds about right. I hear for every .10th you cut on 60ft is doubled at the traps so your 1.8 compared to our 2.1 should take of .60 in the end. which would put me at 12.5. Nice. Im thinking MT drag radials or Nitto NT05r

Yeah. You could definitely improve with tires. I think 12s are definitely possible out of this car. With the trap I ran, I should have definitely been in the 12s. I was VERY careful to squeeze out my launch, but after that, I chirped the tires in every gear. And I agree...nice to drive it home. LOL!
