Not to steal this thread but curious for those who have installed v1 headers..What is the difficulty level and is there a big difference between 1 3/4" and 1 7/8" hp gains? Im looking at purchasing soon..Thanks

I've never had a prob with OEM gaskets.
Definitely do the MM's while the headers are off. I'm putting the RevTech's in next weekend. They look and feel legit. Plus I feel like the Bimmer guys.....I'm getting rid of the UUC's and going RevShift.
I would get new header bolts also.

That being said, we put 1 3/4 Kooks on the CTS-V and have never regretted it. It pulls hard the whole way.

Throw some arp studs in there and be done with it. You'll pay a premium for them, but if you ever have to take the headers off it will make your life so much easier.

Yes. And I added those to the first post. What I did ask was whether or not anyone had suggestions on wires. I don't want to overspend, and am pretty set on OEM for now.
Appreciate the suggestion. I'm a fan of studs as well. Thinking I may just get a new set of OEM studs.

Just did my install this weekend on with stainless works. I didn't need extensions however I did need to undo a little plastic clip on the back side of the motor on both sides for a little more length.

Well, the install is complete. And as expected, there were a few issues...minor at that.
The Kooks 1 3/4" didn't require any hammering or alteration to the pipes to clear the steering shaft. We did disconnect the steering shaft. Just made the whole thing much easier.
With the stock exhaust down and the Kooks cats in, we lifted the catback and measured where we needed to cut the pipe. For us, it was between the obvious elbow in the pipe and the less obvious curve closest to the resonator.
Even though we though we measured closely, we were about 1/4" to 3/8" off on the left (driver) side cut...too short. So with a little thoughtfulness, one of the guys strapped it up and started ratcheting the two together. The goal was to close the gap showing in the crimp of the Kooks cats outlet despite the fact that it would be concealed under the band clamp.
One other thing we had issue with was bolting the left (passenger) ball and socket flanges together. Probably some user error on our part aligning them. We had to use a larger bolt (which you can see just under the O2 sensor in the photo) to set the connection, and with the strap holding everything together, we replaced the longer bolt with the one that came with the Kooks kit.
All in all, everything went well. And for those that haven't done it, we found this thread somewhat helpful in making that final adjustment: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ml#post1549459

Looks like you've searched, so I'll give it to you.
With the OBX headers, you'll need to dent them at that point of contact. Mark them while they're in and against the shaft, then remove them and dent with a hammer for clearance. Not the prettiest way, but simplest. It shouldn't affect performance.
